Presumably the NFL assigned experienced, competent officials to manage the Conference Championships on Sunday. So help me understand... The NE Patriots ran 82 plays run from scrimmage, plus PATs and kickoffs. On each of these occasions, the ball was handled by the Head Linesman as well as (usually) at least one other official since due to the rain, dry replacement footballs were being being cycled in from the sidelines. Yet at no time during these hundreds of contacts did these officials notice anything about the balls that caused them to be concerned? Ever. Youve handled a football. You know how easy it is to detect an under-inflated ball. Right? So, how can this be? How could none of the officials have noticed an under-inflated ball? What? Were the officials on on a conspiracy, too?
