Pretty sure you are all aware of the band At the Gates, their album Slaughter of the Soul often hailed as peak of melodic death metal. Its a good album, but its very overrated, this here is their true masterpiece, its melodic but still sounds like death metal at the same time, and is far more complex and progressive than the accessible, poppy song structures and choruses that make up SotS. https://youtube/watch?v=mkiZwnwY-J0 -Xanadu
