Preview - Holderness at Dalton park, Sunday, 16th March 88 entries have been received for the Holderness meeting at Dalton Park on Sunday 16th March. A true three mile course, stamina will have to be to the fore of any winners. Racing starts at 1.30pm with the Hunt Members race and 11 entries have been received. Nalim should take the spoils but only acts on soft ground. Max My Boy was a good winner at the recent West of Yore meeting but Larkhall could be the big danger after his two wins this season, both coming at North Carlton. Royal Deal can follow up on his West of Yore win in the PPORA Club Members Race, having shown he can handle the course by winning his restricted here in 2012. Lord Multifix has been progressing nicely in point-to-points and could be there at the end, where as Roi De Garde, Puzzlemaster and Picabo Kid all head to Yorkshire in search of the silverware. The Men’s Open is part of the Bonham’s sponsored series where the first three past the post all qualify for the Championship final at Cheltenham on 30th April. The Rucker family are becoming familiar faces in the Yorkshire area as they search for good ground and have two good chances with Ashfield’s Dream and Beneficial Reform. Jill Dawson is another who could be double handed with Blarney Highwayman and Minella Class, the latter is yet to make his pointing debut and the former Nicky Henderson recruit is an exciting prospect in the pointing field. Moment of Madness is probably beginning to feel his 16 years but does relish a stamina test. Sporting Friendship has been second twice this season and could go one better here. Palypso De Creek will take all the beating in the Ladies equivalent if he hasn’t taken up his engagement at Cheltenham in the foxhunters. Stonemaster was a good winner at the West of Yore under Emily Rucker and Hey Porter is another to travel north looking for a stayers track. Intentandpurposes can follow up on his Brocklesby Maiden win at the South Wold meeting in the Restricted race but Drivehomregardles could be the biggest challenge. The Open Maiden race has already been divided with 15 entries in each race. Alice Petch’s Ballyanrahan has run some good races and it won’t be long before he takes a Maiden. Desert Sting has been placed on his three pointing starts this season but Billy Two Tongues could be in the frame if he can complete a clear round. In the second division, Oscar Romeo could progress from his third at Charm Park but is another whose jumping has let him down in the past. Blue Lovell was second on his last start and The Millar Man has shown progression throughout this season. Racing starts at 1.30pm and the postcode for satellite navigation is HU17 7PW. Admission is £45 for the reserved car park, £30 for the main car park and £5 for spectators on foot.
