Prez Kez Sez #11 A little late this week with my newsletter as I work furiously to get all the reports out of the way before I go on leave. Thanks to all the members who participated in our planning evening. These are an important part of our programme, and ensure that we have the focus on the events that are coming up, and that we know we have the resources and people to undertake our projects, and that we don’t stretch individuals too far. Remember, Rotary is meant to be fun, so let’s make sure we share the load and don’t burden a small group of people with too many tasks. The Discovery Day planning is coming along well. We will need around 8 – 12 people (including some from Toronto Rotary) and members of the District Committee will be on hand to assist us in this first venture. Marie has had some great ideas about putting our image out there in the community to make people more aware of the support that we provide to the community. Georgina is currently working on a ROMAC Dinner for 27 th November, so put that one in your diary and think about who you might like to invite. It will be another opportunity to get the Rotary story and the work that we do out into the community. Also, these dinners aren’t an opportunity to raise money from members; they’re an opportunity to raise money from the community. If you have a little time to spare, Georgina could do with some assistance to get this dinner underway. And finally, I was saddened yesterday to learn of the death of Griff Olive, John’s Dad. We’ve all followed his progress, particularly over the past year, and it’s been a very taxing time for John as he got his father settled into a care facility. John and Sandy have just returned from overseas lasat week, so this has been a very sad event to return to. John is currently in Sydney. We might see Sandy on Wednesday evening. I’m sure we would all want to pass on to their our most sincere condolences, and hope that in this sadness they are still able to celebrate a long and very worthwhile life. Our thoughts are with them. Cheers Prez Kez
