Priest Death: Police commences full scale investigation Edo State Police Command says it has commenced full scale investigation into the death of the Parish Priest of Saint Thomas Catholic Church, Sobe in Owan West Local Government Area, who was found dead in his apartment. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Moses Eguavoen disclosed this while fielding questions from Independent Television. The Command’s image maker said the death of Father Peter Ayala, who was the Parish Priest of Saint Thomas Catholic Church, Sobe in Owan under Auchi Diocese, came to the police as a rude shock. The Police image maker who described the incident as unfortunate said that information made available to the police indicates that the Priest was to conduct the Sunday Morning mass of the church when worshipers discovered that he was not forth coming from his residence to conduct the mass. He said it was discovered that the Priest laid dead with a gun at the scene of the incident pointing out that the police has set up a high powered investigation team to unravel the mystery surrounding the death. Mr. Eguavoen who commiserated with the bereaved family and Auchi Diocese of the Catholic Communion for the loss said it is too early to ascertain if the victim was murdered or committed suicide as being speculated in some quarters. The Parish Priest in charge of Saint Thomas Catholic Church, Sobe in Owan West Local Government was found dead with a gun around the scene of the incident shortly before Sunday early morning mass.
