Primary Election Results : 107th District Representative 2 Year Term Lee Chatfield (R) 6,533 Frank Foster (R) 5,487 Jim Page (D) 2,941 Foster, Chatfield Will Compete for 107th District Seat Republicans Frank Foster and Lee Chatfield will be competing candidates in the Tuesday, August 5, primary election. Both are seeking to represent the 107th state congressional district. The candidate receiving the most votes will go on to the general election Tuesday, November 4, to face candidate Jim Page, a Democrat. The 107th district includes Mackinac and Chippewa counties in the Upper Peninsula, and Emmet and portions of Cheboygan counties in the Lower Peninsula. Rep. Foster has been in office since 2010. He is specifically interested in economics. He is chairman of the House Commerce Committee. He also serves on the Tax Policy and Michigan Competitiveness committees. Rep. Foster seeks to influence state health policies as a member of the house Health Policy Committee. Coming from a business background, he manages a family construction company based in Pellston. Born in Alanson, Rep. Foster was graduated from Petoskey High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree for business administration in finance from the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University. He is involved in the Northern Michigan YMCA, Right to Life of Michigan, National Rifle Association, and other civic and hunting organizations. Lee Chatfield Mr. Chatfield is a teacher at Northern Michigan Christian Academy in Burt Lake, the school from which he was graduated. A collegiate athlete, he also is the school’s athletic director and coach. Focused on Christian ideals, he is executive director of Freedom’s Foundation, a group centered on issues related to Christianity and the U.S. Constitution. Mr. Chatfield, a native of northern Lower Michigan, lives in Levering. He attended Northland International University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in history education. He received his master’s degree in public policy from Liberty University. Mr. Chatfield is active in his local church. He is involved in mentorship through coaching and offers summer sports camps. He is a member of the Michigan Farm Bureau, Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners, the NRA, and Right to Life of Michigan.
