Principal Environmental Engineer: Details: The IE/Northeast Region of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Environmental Engineer for immediate employment in the Clifton, NJ office. This is a leadership position within a large environmental department which includes over 70 scientists and engineers who regularly investigate and remediate hazardous waste sites in the New Jersey and the New York areas as well as provide support to project managers in other URS offices. The appropriately qualified applicant will be expected to act in a leadership role on hazardous waste site remediation projects and proposals. Delegates work to, mentors, trains and supervises less experienced staff to complete assignments for our Federal, State and private sector clients. This senior position will require the ability to make independent decisions on engineering problems and methods, and represents URS in front of clients, conferences, resolves important project/client issues and to plan and coordinate work. The incumbent will carry out complex or novel assignments requiring the development and overseeing implementation of new or innovative site remediation techniques and procedures. URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. o Serves as task leader/project manager on major remediation projects requiring the development of presumptive and/or innovative remediation technologies for site-specific contaminants and constraints o Leads proposal efforts in the environmental department to win new clients/projects and solicits additional work from existing clients o Contributes to the selection and development of applicable, appropriate and cost-effective remediation techniques o Presents the selected methodologies to clients, project staff and other project managers including the advantages of the selected techniques and their cost benefits o Researches feasibility of alternate design approaches and regulatory agency requirements in support of improving and expediting project delivery o Develops conceptual and detailed plans and specifications, evaluates contractor bids and contractor deliverables, and oversees the implementation of remediation plans including the preparation of closure reports The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to those stated above.
