Printout of re-entry visa not required from Sept. 7 - Expatriate workers no longer need to carry a printout of their exit and re-entry visas while leaving or returning to the Kingdom from Saturday (Sept. 7). Minister of Interior Prince Muhammad Bin Naif has issued an order to this effect. According to the new directive, the exit and re-entry visa details on the website (passportevisa) will be considered as authentic and final, and as such there is no need to carry a printout. The decision is part of the Passports General Directorate’s keenness to further ease travel procedures and boost e-services. The Directorate has already introduced Abshir online service, including those for the issuance and renewal of residency permit (iqama), and issuance of exit and re-entry visas. In June, Prince Muhammad Bin Naif launched the free Abshir service for individuals. Saudis and expatriates can sign up for Abshir services by visiting epassport.gov.sa. The Abshir service allows them to have access to several online services such as accessing their personal information, issuance of exit/re-entry visas for dependents and laborers, issuance or cancellation of final exit visas and issuance of travel permits. The Abshir was launched as a major step to realize the aspirations and directives of the government of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to make available e-services for citizens and expats.
