Prior to the last week, for nearly a month, in a sleepy coastal town in Costa Rica, I learned medical Spanish, read, took long walks on the beach, studied, prayed, meditated, ate organic food, and went to bed on time…… Then Justin Smith arrived. In the past 7 days we have encountered a snake in volcanic hot springs that we also just happened to be in, gotten stuck on a kilometer-long zip line dangling 400 meters above the Costa Rican jungle, seemingly bribed a Panamanian police officer for accidentally going twice the speed limit, saw a sloth defecate, drove in the wrong direction at mid-day on one of the busiest expressways in Central America at the STRONG behest of a toll-booth operator holding a shotgun that clearly was not government issue and even more clearly had been used before, snuck into Panama without telling Panama, picked up not one but two hitchhikers, navigated a mountain cliff road through the thickest cloud God has perhaps ever made, found and ate at a Steelers bar in the middle of the jungle whilst being a Packer, fell asleep to the tune of 4 gun shots likely from the parking lot of our border town motel room and finally today caught in a riptide that carried us out deep into the Pacific Ocean where the whales swim to perhaps never return....#PuraVida #Ilaughatdangerpubliclyandthencrymyselftosleeplater
