Privilege of Discipleship: Blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they here. Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it. Matthew 13:16-17 Jesus said: A man had guest friends, and when he had prepared the dinner, he sent his servant to invite the guest friends. He went to the first, he said to him: My master invites thee. He said: I have some claims against some merchants; they will come to me in the evening; I will go and give them my orders. I pray to be excused from the dinner. He went to another, he said to him: My master has invited thee. He said to him: I have bought a house and they request me for a day. I will have no time. He came to another, he said to him: My master invites thee. He said to him: My friend is to be married and I am to arrange a dinner. I shall not be able to come. I pray to be excused from the dinner. He went to another, he said to him: My master invites thee. He said to him: I have bought a farm, I go to collect the rent. I shall not be able to come. I pray to be excused. The servant came, he said to his master: Those whom thou hast invited to the dinner have excused themselves. The master said to his servant: Go out to the roads, and bring those whom thou shalt find, so that they may dine. Tradesmen and merchants shall not enter the places of my father. Gospel According to Thomas Josephus (1st century Jewish Historian - Antiquities of the Jews Book 1, 2:2 And when Cain had traveled over many countries he, with his wife, built a city, named Nod, which is a place so called, and there he settled his abode; where also he had children. However, he did not accept of his punishment in order to amendment, but to increase his wickedness; for he only aimed to procure everything that was for his own bodily pleasure, though it obliged him to be injurious to his neighbors. He augmented his household substance with much wealth, by rapine and violence; he excited his acquaintance to procure pleasures and spoils by robbery, and became a great leader of men into wicked courses. He also introduced a change in that way of simplicity wherein men lived before; and was the author of measures and weights. And whereas they lived innocently and generously while they knew nothing of such arts, he changed the world into cunning craftiness. No one can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and mammon (Aramaic word meaning wealth or property) Matthew 6:24 Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, You are lacking one thing. Go, sell what you have, give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me. At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions. Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, How hard is it for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God! Mark 10:21-22 Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honor whoever serves me. John 12:25-26 If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you. Remember the word I spoke to you, No slave is greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. And they will do all these things to you on ACCOUNT OF MY NAME, because they do not know the one who sent me. This saying is hard, who can accept it? As a result of this, many of his disciples returned to thier former way of life and no longer accompanied him. John 6:66 At that time Jesus said in reply, I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Matthew 11:25 I am looking for a partner for a ministry, if anyone has read and understood these various collections of commentary, canonical, non-canonical scripture and you see a common theme that seems to evade mainstream Christianity, and you are willing/able and can drop everything to go forth and serve please message me.. If any Christians are unable, but understand my intentions then please share.. Thank You
