ProBono Law 26 September 2013 at 6.30pm - Competition Commission Tune into ProBono Law hosted by Patrick Bracher, of Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa, on Thursday the 26th of September 2013 at 6.30pm. Patrick’s expert guest is Norman Manoim the Chairperson of the Competition Tribunal, whose topic is Cartel busting – are the competition authorities to tough or too soft. Norman will talk about recent developments in the construction industry saga, in terms of which the Competition Commission reached a settlement with a number of large construction companies who were fined billions of rands for collusive anti-competitive practices during the World Cup in 2010. Norman is the Chairperson of the Competition Tribunal having been appointed to that position in 2009. He has served as a full time member of the Competition Tribunal, since its inception in September 1999. He was a member of the drafting team that drafted the present South African Competition Act.
