Probably one of the toughest things (for me) to do in the news business is cover a story about a person whos been killed, and after you get the official ID of the victim and come across their Facebook profile...Damn it can hurt. It hurts to take a look into a persons life when theyve left the world in such a horrible manner -- and with their Facebook profile you can sometimes get to see how they lived their life, how happy they were , how much fun they were having. All of it, gone. And especially with the holidays just finishing up -- family photos, reunions, joy and happiness abound -- all now frozen in time with pictures and status updates and wall comments. Forever held in time. Its weird because I dont know any of these people and have no affiliation with them whatsoever. They were just a victim of a senseless act of violence. I know those of us who work in this biz develop thick skin and what not, but every so often a story comes along and it just hits you in the heart.
