Probe N186bn Stimulus Package – Hon. Bimbo Daramola. A member of the House of Representatives, Hon Bimbo Daramola, has asked his colleagues in the National Assembly to probe the N186 billion being allegedly given as stimulus package to some individuals and private companies under the Power Airlines Intervention fund. Speaking with the newsmen in Ado Ekiti yesterday,the lawmaker said the huge amount, which he alleged was released to the beneficiaries by the Central Bank of Nigeria had ended up in the hands of private individuals and phantom companies “There is need to investigate the N186 billion given to fifteen companies under Power Airlines intervention fund. This is practically shoving money into the pocket of 15 people. And this is Nigerian money. “This same administration under President Goodluck Jonathan had given stimulus packages to several kinds of agencies, individuals and companies of interest to them under PAIF. “My brother, this country is going to ground and is already grounding. The manifestations are on the streets and faces of all Nigerians”. Daramola, who is representing Ikole, Oye Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives also described the statement allegedly credited to the Minister of Finance, Mrs Ngozi Okonjo –Iweala that it cannot meet the N92 billion demanded by the Academic Staff of Union of Universities, as very unfortunate. Daramola equally expressed dismay that President Goodluck Jonathan could defy the resolution of the National Assembly that he must remove the Director General of Security and Exchange Commission, Mrs Arunma Oteh, for lacking cognate experience as demanded by law . The lawmaker, who is the Chairman, Ad hoc Committee on land allocation in Abuja since 2010 to date, said the executive could only be respected when its resolutions have the enforcement of law as mooted by House Minority leader, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila. Daramola equally defended the decision of his colleagues in the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria for removing Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele as the Leader of ACN caucus in the House of Representatives.
