Proceed With Caution “But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction…” 2 Chronicles 26:16 Uzziah was chosen to reign over the people of Judah when he was sixteen years old. The Bible says that he did what was right in the sight of the Lord as his father did. As long as King Uzziah sought the Lord, God prospered him. Yet, he allowed his heart to become lifted up with pride to… his own destruction. He sinned against God and spent his last and final years diseased with leprosy and cut off from the house of the Lord. What happened? Have you ever found yourself asking that question either about someone or yourself? The greatest hindering spirit in the Body of Christ is pride. It completely stops whatever God is doing until we humble ourselves. It is God’s desire that we prosper and have great success, but we must remember to not let any success go to our head. Proceed to the top with caution, guarding against pride. God’s hand is mighty and if it exalts, it can also bring us very low. We must remain humble and continually seeking Him.
