Professional Reflexology would like to clarify that there has never been any confusion or misunderstanding concerning the criteria required for Membership. Quite simply, we do not accept applications for membership from those trained on short intensive courses, sometimes termed fast track. In order to become a therapist trained to the standard required for Membership of Professional Reflexology it is essential to have a minimum of 100 hours direct contact tuition with an experienced Reflexology tutor, plus the home and case studies necessary for qualification and adequate training Also the training course should take place over a minimum of one of academic year. The 100 hours face to face tuition and the 1 academic year minimum requirement is what sets PR membership criteria apart from ANY other Reflexology membership association. Our rules are: - An applicant may be accepted for membership if trained either at Level 5, with a PR Affiliated School or on a nationally recognised level three diploma course. To qualify such level 3 courses MUST be run over a minimum of nine months and provide a minimum of 100 hours contact/face to face/ classroom tuition. If this is not the case then experience and length of time in practice may be taken into account. An applicant may be accepted for membership following achievement of a nationally recognised qualification plus 3 years in practice. The letters PRM after our Members names is synonymous with the highest quality of training. These letters cannot be acquired easily, without considerable effort and a high degree of expertise. In view of the continued proliferation of short, or fast track courses available at level 3 we must reiterate that we do not, and never will, accept as Members graduates trained by this method.
