Professional development online: Future Classroom Scenarios course beginning 24 March FCS courseAre you looking for innovative pedagogical scenarios to use in your teaching practice? The European Schoolnet Academy is an online platform for professional development of teachers in Europe, hosting free-of-charge courses from European-funded projects, Ministries of Education and other organisations offering training to teachers. Learn more and join today at European Schoolnet Academy! 2,500 classrooms reached in four years of iTEC school pilots Teachers and pupils from 16 countries are taking part in the fifth and final cycle of the iTEC school pilots, which has been underway since the beginning of this year. When the iTEC project was launched in 2010, the goal was to involve 1,000 classrooms across Europe in the pilots. Now, as the project draws towards the end of the piloting phase, the project has reached almost 2,500 classrooms. The last cycle is special also in the way it’s being implemented: the project’s National Pedagogical Coordinators will design Learning Activities tailored specifically to teachers in their country. Learn more about activities developed by national partners Closing conference of the iTEC project: 26-27 May itec-conferenceFor the past four years, the iTEC project has been working towards the transformation of education in Europe. Since the project began in 2010, the iTEC project has been piloted in over 2,500 classrooms. Now, as we draw towards the end of the piloting phase, the focus has shifted towards mainstreaming the results of the project across education systems as a whole. The final iTEC General Assembly will take place in Brussels, 26-27 May. The conference will be attended by policymakers and opinion-shapers from across the spectrum of the education process, and will focus on iTEC project results and their sustainability at the end of the project. Video - Classroom of 2025 Over the past 18 months, the iTEC project has been interviewing some of Europe’s leading thinkers in the field of pedagogy and educational reform as part of the Future Classroom Lab Interview Series. Over the course of the series, we have heard the views of Lord Puttnam (Open University), Kristen Weatherby (OECD), Diana Laurillard (University of London), as well as from teachers and pupils from across Europe. Exploring radical classroom scenarios radical-scenariosThis April, 24 teachers from 10 countries will take part in the ‘Future Classroom Scenarios – transformative innovation workshop in Brussels. The workshop will bring teachers and education technology providers together to develop ‘radical’, or transformative scenarios for the future classroom, and will take place in the Future Classroom Lab. Some of the teaching technologies that will be explored during the workshop are provided by Promethean and Corinth. Presenting the iTEC project in São Paulo iTEC partners from University of Lisbon recently presented the results of the iTEC project at SENAC, Brazil’s national commercial training service. The project findings were presented as part of a seminar on ‘Trends in ICT in Education – Portugal/Brazil’. Neuza Pedro, University of Lisbon, presented iTEC Learning Activities and technologies to an audience of over one hundred teachers, trainers, education specialists and researchers, in the context of a session on rethinking the future of education. Webinar - A vision of the future classroom Will Ellis, Project Manager of iTEC, will lead a webinar presenting the background of the iTEC project, its aims and outcomes, and the resources and pedagogical approaches that have been developed over the course of the school pilots.
