Professor Bolaji Akinyemi makes me laugh! Just take a look at the names he suggested in his proposal for syn- and post-elections violence management: The Sultan, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III; the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II; the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo Mustapha; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade; the Oba of Benin, Omo N’oba Erediauwa; Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, His Excellency General Yakubu Gowon and His Excellency, Gen. Abubakar Abdulsalami to facilitate the pre-election meeting between the candidates, the preparation off the Memorandum of Undertaking and as a Council of Wisemen to assist in managing the post-election conflicts. The National Conference he co-chaired would have done well to us, the younger generation, if they had suggested strong regional but weak central system of government, rather than this bound-to-fail-bogus-expensive system of government. And people like him had better advised President Goodluck Jonathan to treat such recommendation as an urgent matter of national importance superseding to 2015 elections. The likes of Senator David Bonaventure Mark would have helped facilitate the required legislative ingredients. A strong regional/weak central system of government will drastically reduce quest for power, and it will reduce electoral violence a lot (maybe to regional scale, and people will outgrow it gradually) blogs.premiumtimesng/?p=166391
