Professor Graham Henderson CBE DL, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Teesside University, has announced plans to retire in Aug 2015. SU President Will Ridley has paid a warm tribute to his extraordinary contribution. Will said: Its impossible to do full justice to the contribution the Vice-Chancellor has made to this university over the years in this short quote. However, on behalf of all the Student Officers who have worked with him over the years and the many thousands of students who have benefited from his tireless commitment to improving their experience, I want to say a massive thank you! I know from my own brief experience of working closely with Graham Henderson that his focus is always on delivering the very best services and facilities for students while the developments and improvements we have seen across campus during his time in the role are an outstanding and permanent testament to his vision and determination. Beyond the University campus hes made a massive contribution to the wider HE sector and the entire Tees Valley, always proving a superb advocate for everything Teesside has to offer in the process and deservedly becoming a very well respected national figure along the way. He has also played a key role in modernising the way universities engage with business and helped to establish higher education in universities and colleges as a fair opportunity for everyone. Finally, I want to gratefully acknowledge his invaluable and enthusiastic support for the Students Union and his commitment to a close and warm relationship with me and my predecessors. The most recent example being the £1m+ of investment the University has provided this past summer for a massive transformation of the Students Union.
