Profile #5 The Hulk. Hairy Lime V8. Owner: Andrew Mentiplay. The Hulk has been on the P76 club scene in WA since the early 90s, starting life has a Corinthian Blue Deluxe. Over the years it has had numerous owners and many colour schemes, including flat black, gloss black, maroon and also white. Andrew purchased the car from fellow club member Brett Shea in 2001, just prior to the P76 National Meeting in Perth. At the time of purchase, it was a faded maroon colour and looking worse for wear. To make it look presentable for the National Meeting, Andrew gave it a quick coat of white and gave the car a general tidy up. The car served duties as a daily driver for the next few years and became a reliable cruiser. In early 2004 it came off the road for a serious makeover, Andrew decided that he wanted to drive the car to the 2004 P76 Nationals in QLD and saw this as the opportunity to really improve the car. Fellow club member Tony Moisley was entrusted with the panel and paint and given the instructions to do a complete colour change. The colour chosen was the Leyland Hero colour, Hairy Lime, and as the photos show the result was spectacular. The car handled the 8000km round trip to and from QLD faultlessly, and backed it up again in 2006 with the P76 Nationals in Cootamundra , NSW. Throughout the years the Hulk has been a regular at various car shows and cruises that the WA P76 club has attended, and also hit the drag strip at the Nostalgia Drags a few years back. At present the car is laying low, awaiting a freshen up as the plan is for the Hulk to go on tour again and attend next years P76 Nationals in Adelaide. As Andrew has always said, there is no better way to see the country than from the drivers seat of a P76.
