Program Coordinator Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX) Baku, Azerbaijan SUMMARY: American Councils seeks a highly qualified person to fill the position of Program Coordinator for the Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX). The FLEX Program is fully funded by the United States government and administered by the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State. This Program was created by the United States Congress to extend a hand of friendship from the people of the former Soviet Union. It establish the first long-term exchange program for secondary school students to travel to the United States for a year. Now in its seventeenth year, the FLEX Program has provided scholarships to over 23,000 secondary school students. Each scholarship recipient will live for one year as a member of a U.S. host family and study in an American high school. The Future Leaders Exchange Program Coordinator will be based in Baku, Azerbaijan, and will report to Jodi Blankenship, Country Director as well as relevant program staff in Moscow and Washington, DC. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: • Coordinating FLEX program recruitment, selection, and pre-departure orientation for program participants; • Preparing budgets and program reports; • Organizing and conducting program-specific conferences, trainings, and presentations; • Liaising with donor agencies and partner organizations; • Designing and organizing follow on activities such as workshops, round tables, press events; • Traveling around Azerbaijan (as necessary); • Assist in preparing correspondence for Ministry Officials, Regional Departments of Education and other relevant actors • Acting as main liaison with U.S. Embassy in providing updates on program activities • Compile recruitment statistics, as well as maintain recruitment files and materials • Contact and correspond with parents on on-program support issues as they arise • Contact and correspond with participants and parents on placement and other issues pre-departure, as needed • Work with Alumni Coordinator in developing comprehensive alumni programming; • Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: • Citizen of Azerbaijan; • Bachelor’s degree required; • 2-3 years work experience (preferably with international organizations, education and/or government officials); • Superb organization and planning skills; • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English, Azerbaijani and Russian; • Excellent computer skills; • Good reporting skills; • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment; • Experience living, studying, or working in a cross-cultural environment (preferred); ANTICIPATED DATE: October 14, 2013 TO APPLY: Please send cover letter and resume/CV to Jodi Blankenship at [email protected] and copy Tamella Hajiyeva at [email protected] or fax to +99412 436 75 29/30/31.
