Project Coordinator, New Theatre Royal South East Closes Friday 17 October 2014 Paid (£20k-25k) Full time Artform: theatre Contact: Tobias Robinson tobias@newtheatreroyal Description Music In Detention and the New Theatre Royal are entering into a new partnership working together to develop participatory music opportunities for immigration detainees and the local community in the Solent area. We are looking for a project coordinator to lead on this project. We are now recruiting a Programme Co-ordinator to lead the development of the Music In Detention programme in the Solent area. Key elements of the job are: -Developing, delivering and promoting an engaging programme of regular participatory music activities with immigration detainees and in the local community -Using inter-cultural music making to build relationships and understanding between detainees and local people -Developing and supporting the Solent MID Partnership -Work on fundraising, communications, marketing, evaluation, good practice development and other supporting tasks About Music in Detention (MID) Music In Detention is a small national charity which runs participatory music-making workshops for immigration detainees. Experienced and skilled musicians facilitate intensive sessions with detainees, helping them create music together. About New Theatre Royal The New Theatre Royal is a Grade 11 Listed heritage theatre that is coming towards the end of a £4.5m refurbishment and capital build project that will not only see the theatre returned to its former glory after it was severely damaged by fire in the 1970s but will see the opening of a new creative learning space in partnership with the University of Portsmouth. This is perhaps one of the most exciting times in the long history of the New Theatre Royal as the organisation enters a new period of growth and prosperity and further cements its potential and ideals as a cultural hub for Portsmouth and the South Coast. The theatre has a long standing aim and vision to engage in its fullest capacity with the local community; to interconnect all of its activity areas so that they share ideas and inform new work.
