[Project: HARITA-PRIYA] Government of Andhra Pradesh has entrusted Ubiquitous Computing team of C-DAC to take-up a pilot on Precision Technology for Agriculture (HARITA-PRIYA), to collect micro-climate information from Groundnut fields using Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), covering about 500 acres in 5 villages of Anantapur District, Andhra Pradesh, thereby enabling the dissemination of location specific advisories to farmers for Pest & Disease Forewarning and optimal Irrigation Scheduling. Total 100 WSN nodes are being deployed for this pilot study. HARITA-PRIYA is a sub-component of the major initiative HARITA (Harmonized Information of Agriculture, Revenue and Irrigation for a Transformation Agenda), being implemented by the AP Government. The U-Agri team of C-DAC, Hyderabad successfully installed the Wireless Sensor Networks in farmer’s fields at Kothapeta and Dharmapuram villages in Anantapur District during January 04-05, 2015 respectively, with the support of Agriculture Department. Motes and sensors developed indigenously by C-DAC are being utilised for this project. Also, the Decision Support System (DSS) developed for Groundnut crop, as an outcome of Ubiquitous Computing Research, is going to be used for this project to generate advisories.
