Project Update: In under a month, I will be taking to the road, - TopicsExpress

Project Update: In under a month, I will be taking to the road, beginning a whirlwind interview tour across the United States and Southern Ontario, Canada. The past several weeks have been a blur, with individual travel and interview schedules being refined, routes re-plotted, and additional people added into the mix. This will be the largest effort, to-date, to sit down and interview storm chasers and meteorologists from every decade about the vast topic of storm chasing culture. For now that independent effort remains somewhat daunting, but in an exciting way. An estimated 11,318 miles roundtrip will accumulate on this journey, combined with over 65 individual interviews. There are still many people that I wish to include who are vital to the evolution of this subject. A few noteworthy individuals have decided not to be a part of this documentary, some due to personal circumstances, others simply not wanting to draw any further attention to themselves. I fully respect this, and please know as a whole, I have truly attempted to reach out to as many as possible. A concern brought up amongst a select few concerning this production is whether or not the documentary would take sides. It will not. This anthology is intended to tell a vast story, a colorful history; presenting it through the words and imagery of every passing generation. There will be no narration, just stories from a six-decade history of an activity that has grown leaps and bounds. Personal opinion on the subject of storm chasing will be a part of this, but will be presented tactfully. This will not be is a dramatic documentary taking sides on a topic or individuals, rather, showcasing the universal connection everyone shares, regardless of age or experience. All who pursue severe weather do it for very personal reasons. Many have strong opinions on the subject, while others live in the moment, concerned not about image, rather, simply living their passion. I am attempting to live my passion through the creation of this visual chronicle, and with quite a bit of work ahead, will accomplish it. I am really looking forward to meeting several new individuals, of whom I have only spoken to through the internet or by phone; along with seeing many I have had the pleasure of experiencing the turbulent atmosphere with over the years. A new iPhone has been purchased for this trip, so look for updates on social media and the stormchasinghistory.net website during my travels. Updates to follow! Thank you all again for your support and encouragement!
