Project Update: The construction of the Ivy City Passive Townhouse - TopicsExpress

Project Update: The construction of the Ivy City Passive Townhouse project is pushing forward. After exceeding our preliminary air-tightness target, trade rough-in work has proceeded, roofing is in place, and interior partitions are set. The all-important ERVs (energy recover ventilator) have been mounted and main fresh air supply and exhaust ducting is connected. The Zehnder ComfoAir 200 is the supplied equipment. One very unique aspect to this system is that the air distribution mains are 100% Insulated Expanded PolyPropylene ducts, adhered with sealant at the couplings. That’s right – zero sheet metal, zero additive insulation, zero tape, zero mastic.) From the mains, air distribution then breaks down into flexible, ribbed medical grade HDPE piping. You can imagine the flexibility (NPI) in ventilation layout that these products afford. Installation is quick, clean and quality assured. Systems like these will be a staple in houses in the next 5 to 10 years, just like microwaves and air-conditioning has over the past 25 years. You heard it here first.
