(Promise me this) In our next bodies I may be timid. I may be - TopicsExpress

(Promise me this) In our next bodies I may be timid. I may be heavy with the weight of emptiness, And impatient. And shallow. And distant. I may be the gawkiest thing you’ve ever seen. With legs that swear they were once Trunks of weeping willow trees. And terrible feet. I may blame my feet for the way That I was reborn as an awful dancer. I may not know the answer To any of your questions. i may not be wise. Or any more than mundane. But if we are born, in new bodies, but still soulmates. Love me the same. Teach me the way to feel beautiful Like you taught me On so many occasions here. Even on my ugliest of days, place your mouth Over mine, and breathe into my fears. Or shove them into my face. Drag me to the edge of life, and then, dive out Of sight, so that I can grow into my brave. And if we are no longer twin flames, (If we no longer beg brilliance of each other Or trigger change with each breath Like two flowers growing and bending towards The break of day that is each moment We share….) But find that our next bodies, Still fit together the same, (Even if you don’t long for me The way you did here and I don’t spend years turning every heart That is not yours away…) Please promise me this— Promise me you will stay. If our freedom aligns If we are single next life At all the same times (And my eyes may be too weak To see how perfect you are And your lips may long to kiss Someone else who ignites you Even from afar….) Promise me that you will stay. promise that this life, here.. now.. was not lived in vain. Promise that somewhere in your new body, there will be lingering moments of magic Dust that fell as ash from the way my touch once drew you to flame Under the watch of the moon. Promise me that.. You may long for someone else.. but the moment you gaze Into the stars. The darkness that surrounds them will Remind you of this life, and the way that the night Covered everyone else, the instant you spotted me in a room. Promise that what I feel for you now, (and you tucked away) Will come back next life and consume Your heart from wall to wall, And when you feel drawn To some other soul, You will still connect your dot to mine. Even if the line does not complete the picture. Even if the numbers demand our paths be Trained apart. Change the art. Promise me that you will stay. Promise me that thing you never gave me when you had the chance knowing my arms spent this entire lifetime reaching for your heart.
