Promo Days: Bloemfontein Okay, since reaching Bloemfontein one - TopicsExpress

Promo Days: Bloemfontein Okay, since reaching Bloemfontein one day ahead of schedule, the extra day was dedicated as another Promo Day. The first Promo Day commenced with sourcing props for the next HiM video. Once this video is released at the milestone of ‘half-way’, more will be shared. Props in hand, HiM visited Bloemfontein East Primary School, where Food & Trees for Africa initiated a project. The principal, Mr. Harold, welcomed HiM, and explained the concept of the sustainable water system. It is absolutely genius! When children play on the colourful roundabout, they actually pump water from a borehole into a tank as well as to a drinking well. The tank in turn fills a drum which waters the vegetable garden. G-E-N-I-U-S, and thank you to Food & Trees for Africa for such magnificent engineering. HiM confirms that Bloemfontein East Primary School is maintaining your contribution ;-) There is so much more to be added to this story, but will be revealed with the next video – as the picture suggests… (noted the video cam?) Next stop: a home for the elderly and disabled. A house filled with contagiously happy people. Senior citizen Sarie, affected by age and disabled by a stroke, makes delicate jewellery with one hand, cooks for the residents, watches Sewende Laan, and spouts humour like few can. An incredible encounter, also to be featured in the video. The second Promo Day was spent about town, mostly at Oliewenhuis where an update on the previous ‘leg’ was compiled. The art in the museum and garden was hugely enjoyed and flyers handed out to unsuspecting patrons. Day three of Promo was spent in Mimosa Mall, but the combination of pay-day and the sight of a ‘charity’ table caused people to give the HiM table a wide berth. Mimosa an outlet for self-indulgence? Losses counted, HiM packed up at 2pm, and continued with promotional letter writing in a quiet spot. Peter Franzoni, of Grabb Clothing, a huge heart-felt thank you for your contribution! Peter donated T shirts sporting the HiM logo in all sizes, to be handed to the HiM ambassadors met along the way. The shirts are beautiful, modeled by mascot Annebella. More on the ambassador initiative to follow soon. Every time I connect with people, spend some time in one place, I struggle to accept that I have to leave, I truly want to stay there to see things through, because I see so much opportunity, so much possibility. So much hope. What does one do? I stir ‘the pot’, wholeheartedly believing that others will ignite. I would rather live knowing that I do not stop to fight for what is right, than just live to accept that which is so obviously wrong.
