Prop 487 Call to Action! Press Conference this Thursday! - TopicsExpress

Prop 487 Call to Action! Press Conference this Thursday! First and foremost, for all who have helped out by walking neighborhoods for the Vote No on 487 campaign, Thank You! The battle is not over yet as the opposition is ramping up their efforts with a high dollar pre-election media blitz using blatantly false TV ads claiming that 487 is good for Police and Fire. This infers that Police and Firefighters support Prop 487. PLEA, in cooperation with the Phoenix Fire Fighters Union Local 493 will be holding a joint press conference on Thursday, October 9th, on the southeast corner of North 24th Street and East Camelback Road at 11:00 am. This location coincides with the location of the Arizona Free Enterprise Club located at 2415 East Camelback Road. The Arizona Free Enterprise Club is one of the primary backers of the Vote Yes campaign. We are requesting as many officers along with supportive friends and family as possible to show up to lend their support to this event. It is extremely important to have as many people present as possible to let the public know in no uncertain terms that Police Officers, Fire Fighters and those who support them are opposed to these false TV ads and are not in support of Prop 487. Please arrive early enough to find parking in order to be on time for the event. The press conference itself should be fairly brief. Time estimate is approximately 30 minutes. As always PLEA reminds all officers that City regulations prohibit political activity while on duty or in uniform. PLEA has received a fresh stock of yard signs, door hangers and a limited supply of window stickers for the Vote No on 487 campaign. Please stop by the office to pick up any materials you may need. As a reminder: volunteers are still needed to walk neighborhoods and contact registered voters to encourage them to support Police and Fire by voting no on 487. Neighborhood walks are still being organized and run out of the main Fire Union office at 61 East Columbus Avenue every Saturday at 0900 hrs. Officers can also stop by any time during the week to grab a neighborhood map and materials. Please make sure completed maps are returned for tracking purposes.
