Proper Profiles: Daniel King I met Daniel yesterday when I took a side street heading towards Fort St off of the 75 service drive. He was sitting on the porch of an abandoned house near his low income apartment. When I parked he was holding his head in both hands taking breaks to wring his hands together. When I asked if he wouldnt mind me taking a few pictures he leapt up to his feet proclaiming he didnt have much else to do so why not! Daniel was working at GM until 98, it wasnt clear to me exactly why he left but it wasnt by choice as he had been there 32 years. He let me know that he hadnt slept in 24 hours and that Vodka was his drink of choice. When I asked about the hospital band around his wrist he went into great detail about the DPD assaulting him for drinking in public outside a church on Fort St. He swore it was just a bottle of water and not Vodka. He repeated over and over that this was about a week ago. I didnt notice until just now editing these pictures that the hospital band was clearly dated from over a month prior. He lifted up his shirt to show me his wounds but after such a long period of time since the altercation Im not surprise I only saw a few sores. I seemed to remind Daniel of his son who either writes or takes pictures for a major publication, possibly sports illustrated but he couldnt quite recall. Daniel has spent some time on the streets and spoke of living by the river for a period of his life but seemed to be doing some what better now in his apartment on West Fort St. If you see him walking around or sitting in the sun stop by and say hello and leave him with change if you have any to spare.
