Prostate, (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH) Enlarged prostate is a common problem as men age. It is a small gland found in men. It sits just under the bladder and has a tendency to enlarge with age. Fifty percent of men over the age of 50 show signs of prostate enlargement. After age 70 it goes to 80%. AS the prostate enlarges, it presses against the bladder. This causes symptoms relating to bladder function and urination. - having to get up at night for a pee - the need to pass water frequently - poor urine flow or stream - dribbling at the end of urination See your family Doctor to determine how severe your symptoms are. He may decide to refer you to a Urologist. It is wise to have a yearly physical exam. Please do not confuse this with Prostate Cancer. facebook/bradfordseniorshomecare
