‘Protesters demand compensation, time bound assessment of losses’ Vijaypur, Sept 2: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh today demanded time bound assessment and compensation for the flood hit areas of Samba district. For this purpose, Singh led a protest here at Deputy Commissioner, Samba where demonstrators were demanding adequate compensation of the losses they suffered in the recent flash flood triggered due to heavy rains in Ramgarh and other areas of the district. In a statement, the protesters after their protest, called on Deputy Commissioner, Samba R K Verma where the protesters projected their demands. Though DC Samba assured that their demands would be accused and within a day or two, the team of officials would be sent them to the affected areas of the districts, the deputation led by Manjit Singh demanded that the officials should be directed to prepare list of the affected families in public places. The former Minister said that the people have suffered badly as their life has been hit due to the deplorable condition of link roads leading towards the fields, sands entered in their fields due to flood water, and their houses have been damaged etc in Brota, Lagwal, Kamor, Kamor Camp, Nanga, Rangur Camp, Govindgarh, Chak Paras, Jagatpur, and Majra villages. He further alleged that the electric polls which were damaged in flash flood and heavy rains have not been replaced. Those who were present on the occasion includes Sarpanch Rangur Natha Ram, Panch Kamor Camp Gurdas Choudhary, Raj Kumar, Raja Choudhary, Darshan Choudhary, Manmohan Singh Mani, Caption Swaran, Daler Singh, Sukjinder Singh, Bahadur Choudhary, Subedar Ajit, Ex-Caption Joginder Singh, Ashok Choudhary and Master Gopal Dass.
