Protestor Dares CM at Hazratbal Omar Abdullah faced a few embarrassing moments during Eid congregation at Hazratbal shrine here on Friday when a young man got up and shouted pro-freedom slogans in front of him. The protestor was immediately pounced upon by the police who whisked him away. The situation could have led to a disturbance but for the hundreds of policemen in civvies who had occupied the front rows, where the Chief Minister was seated ahead of the Eid prayers. A journalist who was presentat the shrine told that the young man was barely six feet away from Omar. He says the protestor got up suddenly and shouted “Naara e Allah o Akbar (God is Great)” and “We want freedom”. The incident did not disrupt the prayers. Sources say police had prior inputs that anti-India protests would be held during and after Eid congregations across the valley. They had made elaborate security arrangements at Hazratbal for the CM who was accompanied by his father and Union minister Farooq Abdullah besides others.
