Proud of my Officers and my Profession Over the last several - TopicsExpress

Proud of my Officers and my Profession Over the last several months I have been asked what are we doing locally in the City of Sidney to help prevent incidents that have happened in Missouri, New York, and closer still Beavercreek Ohio from happening here. I believe that this is a partnership between the City of Sidney Police Department and everyone in the community. I am proud of all the Officers here and we try to provide them the proper training and equipment that they need to do their job properly. I believe that we have a good relationship with the Community. If there is an issue with anyone on my department whether good or bad I believe that we need to know about it. That is the only way that we grow as a department. This is a team effort and we need to work together to help prevent these type of incidents from happening here. With that being said I think we need to stand up and support our local law enforcement agencies. Officers, Deputies, Troopers and Law Enforcement personnel put on their uniforms every day and do not know what may be in store for them. They do not know if this is the day that they may have to respond to a subject with a gun who has just shot and killed several people, or a vehicle injury accident where someone was killed and that Officer needs to make contact with their family members and let them know that their loved one is not coming back. Officers have to make critical decisions in split seconds without the benefit of all the information of what is going on. They do not have video cameras which can tape the incident and replay it several times prior to making their decision on what to do. They have to rely on their training and instincts to take over because failure to act may cost their life or another innocent person’s life. Their job is a hard one and it is one that most people do not want to do. I freely admit that there can always be “bad” law enforcement personnel that we need to identify and remove from this field; however that is true in every profession. It does not make the entire profession bad. I am honored to work with all of the law enforcement personnel in my County and my State. I am proud to be in this field. An Officer on my department showed me the below video on You Tube which prompted me to post this. Please take time to watch this video and share this post if you feel it may benefit one person. Be advised that it does have some minor violence and language to it. https://youtube/watch?v=2zyhOW-8Zcc&sns=em Chief William Balling Sidney Police Dept.
