Proud to say I redeemed myself today at work by keeping my facial and verbal filters firmly in place. (Yay me!!) Took care of Mr Cranky Pants yesterday & after listening to the laundry list of complaints for several long hours about everything from the color of the walls in the ED, to the weave of the fibers in the blankets that we gave him (cmon medical peeps, you know what Im talking about), I had reached my limit. Was about to take Mr Cranky Pants upstairs in my 8th hour of work without a drink, snack or pee break because we were so slammed, when he looked at me & said, I dont like staying in the hospital because the only thing there is to do is watch TV. I looked him dead in the eye and said, the hospital is meant for the injured, ill, and dying- it is not meant for your ENTERTAINMENT! Yes; yes I did say that, and thank you Lord, he stopped talking. God Bless the floor nurses- I have NO IDEA how you care for the Mr Cranky Pants of this world for HOURS & DAYS on end without killing them!!
