Proverbs 3:5 Leave The Details To God Sports agents were not the norm in the early days of professional sports. Team owners drew up the contracts, met with the player, and said, “This is what I am offering, sign here.” Contracts were simple, 1 or 2 page documents with uncomplicated dialogue. This would continue until the late 60’s and early 70’s. Free agency ushered in a new era in sports. Big time money was being offered to players and contracts became complex, multi page documents with hard-to-understand terminology. Athletes needed specialized people to help them understand and negotiate these contracts so they were not cheated in anyway. Thus began the age of the sports agent. Athletes could play their chosen sports and enjoy wealthy life styles while leaving the details to their sports agents. In our everyday life, we confront trials. We endure heartaches. We face uncertainties. We must overcome obstacles. Many of these hardships will be bigger than us and the issues will be complex and go beyond our understanding. We will need a representative to help us negotiate these ordeals; someone who will guide us and instruct us through the complexities of these situations. Someone who we can trust with the details of life. Proverbs 3:5 tells us who we can trust with the details. We are not to put our trust in our own knowledge of things. Our knowledge is limited. Trusting our own knowledge will have horrible results. But God has infinite knowledge. We are to trust in him. He is reliable. He is consistent and unfailing. No one else has those qualities, except God. God will not make our trials of our everyday life disappear. Many of us have that misconception. We think that putting our trust in Him means He will make our issues and problems go away. But He never said that. He never said that He would make our trials disappear. But He is able and willing to help us negotiate the obstacles we face in our everyday lives. With His knowledge we can rise above the complexities of everyday life. All we have to do is leave the details to Him.
