Provision and protection By Charlotte Clark I lost a good-paying job more than two years ago. I turned to the Lord, who has always been there for me. I went to His Word and located His promises. Then I put those promises on 3 x 5 cards all over my house. I read those and told God I believed His Word. And I looked for work. God met every need. I kept my house; my bills were paid; food was always available. About a year ago God pointed me to the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office as a detention officer. Not only am I back working full-time, with adequate pay and benefits, but God put me in a wide-open mission field where His love is desperately needed. I give problems — and joys — to Him who gives the victory! Praise His name! God is also my protector. I was coming home one December on a very slick street. Carefully I slowed and began to turn into the drive of the mobile home court where I lived. As I turned, my car began to slide toward a deep ditch. I yelled, “Jesus!” And suddenly my car stopped! I backed up and turned toward the drive to home. Did I hit my guardian angel? Or did he grab the back bumper of my car to stop me? I have no idea what Jesus did. But I do know there was no physiological reason for that car to stop. It did, instantly, when I called out His name! Praise Him!
