Psa. 119:80-Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not - TopicsExpress

Psa. 119:80-Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed. The psalmist desires sincerity, integrity, and pureness. Hear Albert Barnes on Job 1:1 about Job being perfect-..He was a man who was true, blameless, just, pious, abstaining from every evil deed...It denotes that in which there is no part lacking to complete the whole - as in a watch in which no wheel is missing...The proper notion, therefore, is that of simplicity. sincerity, absence from guile or evil intention, and completeness of parts in his religion... So the idea of sound is to be inwardly complete and right. He wanted his heart to be in tune with Word and right with God. Thus, he would not be ashamed. When our heart is not right, we cannot have peace. When we are not living in obedience to the Word, we cannot have rest. It is in obedience to the Word and compliance to Gods will that we have peace and contentment. To live such will cause us not to be fearful and ashamed now, and when we stand before our Lord someday. Are you sound in the Word? Has the Holy Spirit pointed out any area where you need to firm up your obedience and live in greater integrity? We have all been given today to do so. Lets not waste the opportunity Paul came to the end of his life and concluded-...I am not ashamed... (2 Tim. 1:12). He also addressed the Sanhedrin and said in Acts 23:1-...I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day. Wow! There is someone who is sound Lets join him!
