Psalm 2 (I think this is a prophesy about Jesus, discussing events that occur shortly after His return to the Earth to rule as King for a thousand years.) 1) Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? (Why do the foreign nations, fume in anger, and the people waste their efforts thinking they can do something that is pointless?) 2) The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, (The kings of the earth and rulers of nations have a meeting to discuss joining forces in opposition to the ETERNAL ONE and against the one he chose to rule over them, saying,) 3) Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. (Let us overthrow their rule over us and free ourselves of the bondage of their laws.) (Jesus will rule justly. The wealthy and powerful people of the Earth will not be able to lie, cheat, or bribe their way out of just punishment, as they had been accustomed to doing. They will no longer be able to blame others for the things that they are responsible for doing. The angry leaders of wicked nations will then gather together to plot rebellion against His authority.) 4) He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh. The Lord shall have them in derision. (He that dwells in the heavens will laugh playfully. The Lord, Strong Master shall laugh at them derisively.) 5) Then shall he speak to them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. (Then, he will speak a warning out loud to them for all to hear in his burning anger, which terrifies them.) 6) Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. (Regardless, I have poured out my anointing on my King, on this hill which I have set apart, to rule from Jerusalem.) 7) I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. (I will recount and record the decree: the ETERNAL ONE has said to me, You are my Son. On that day, I have causatively brought forth your birth.) 8) Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. (Ask me, and I will give you the foreign nations for your inheritance, and the farthest locations of the earth will be your possession.) 9) Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potters vessel. (You will break them into pieces with an unused root or branch (tribe?); you will shatter them into pieces like a formed potters vessel.) (He will crush the rebellious spirit.) 10) Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. (Be wise for this reason, you kings of the nations: learn from the blows of your chastisement, you judges of the nations of the earth.) 11) Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. (Serve the ETERNAL ONE with extreme fear (or respect?), and spin around with great joy (dance?) with shuddering fear.) (God warns the leaders of the earth to obey with fearful respect and celebrate His sons being here with trembling.) 12) Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. (Kiss the Heir to the throne, or God may become angered, and then you vanish when you wander away from the path to end up being destroyed, when his burning anger is kindled just a little. Happy are those who put their trust of protection in him.) (He tells them to greet the Kings son with respect, instead of a rebellious attitude, or else God may become angry, and the rebellious tend to wander off on a path that leads to destruction. All of those, who put their trust in him, will be blessed, safe, and happy.) ***
