Psychocandy’s 1st Single The Jesus And Mary Chain released one single on Creation Records before signing for Blanco Y Negro. Their first release on the fairly new label (partly set up by Rough Trade’s Geoff Travis) was “Never Understand” This single was one of three released from the now legendary “Psychocandy” album, “You Trip Me Up” & “Just Like Honey” were the other two. It was only released in the UK and was available on 7” & 12”. The B-Sides were not included on the album and were exclusive to this single release until 2008 when the rather excellent “Power Of Negative Thinking” box set came out which collected most of the bands B-Sides together along with various other rarities. The box set also contains an alterative mix of “Never Understand” Three years later in 2011 a 3 disc set of “Psychocandy” was released that contained even more versions of “Never Understand”. The previously released Peel Session version of the track was included along with a demo version.
