Public Communication on Haze 1. We need to protect the health - TopicsExpress

Public Communication on Haze 1. We need to protect the health and safety of Singaporeans, especially vulnerable groups such as the young and elderly, and those with heart or lung diseases. If any resident falls ill, please see doctor or GP promptly. 2. If resident needs any financial help with medical expenses, the Government will make sure it is available. MOH will implement a special scheme, where young Singaporeans 18 and below, elderly Singaporeans 65 and above, CHAS card, Public Assistance and MFEC holders suffering from respiratory problems because of the haze can see their GPs, pay $10, and MOH will settle the rest of the GP’s bill. 3. Public to take basic precautions, such as limiting outdoor activities, and staying indoors where possible, depending on haze situation. The Government will hold a daily press briefing to update Singaporeans of the haze situation and recommend protective measures for the day ahead. (You can also refer to NEA’s website for the guidelines) 4. Ministries and agencies are prepared, and a Crisis Management Group for Haze has also been convened. We do not know how the haze problem will develop. It can last for several weeks or longer until the dry season ends in Sumatra. We can manage this problem as long as we stay united and work together to look out for one another.
