Public Darbar of DIG ( North) in Sopore : Irfan Ahmad, Reporter, Sachnews Jammu Kashmir: Sopore, 20 June: In order to develop a healthy police-public relations and to further community policing, Sopore police organized a public Darbar at Fruit Mandi Sopore. The Darbar was convened by SP Sopore Abdul Qayoom and was chaired by DIG of Police NKR, Ghulam Hassan Bhat. The meeting was attended by large number of people including Sh. Abdul Kabir Dar, Sh. Mohd Maqsood- Union President of Fruit buyers, Sh. Farooq Ahmad Namberdar Botingoo, Sh. Altaf Ahmad Malik Sarpanch Achabal, Sh. Basharat Ahmad Pir of Dangiwacha, Sh. Gh.Rasool Tantray Sarpach Nowpora, Sh. Nazir Ahmad Mir Sarpanch Tragpora, Sh. Fayaz Ahmad Chairman Fruit Mandi Sopore, Sh. G M Shah Namberdar Ladoora, Sh. Bashir Ahmad of Doabgah. The people from the areas of Nowpora, Reban, Achabal, Mazbugh, Doabgah, Wadoora, Saidpora,Ladoora, Paraypora,Lorihama & Chijhama Rafiabad including some prominent citizens also attended the Darbar. The interaction remained focused on various issues including combating the drug menace & gambling. The adverse effects of other social evils were also highlighted among the participants that require immediate corrective measures. The participants reiterated that collective steps need to be taken to keep a check on the social evils. The participants also highlighted several day-to-day issues like worse traffic regulation system of town Sopore, mechanization of Achabal road, inadequate water/ electricity facility of fruit Mandi, illegal encroachment by raidawal’s, chapdiwala’s in main town from Iqbal market to main chowk. While speaking on the occasion DIG of Police assured that Police would take-up the matter with concerned quarters so that genuine grievances of common people are addressed in shortest possible time. The Public Darbar organized by Police Sopore was appreciated by the people by & large and it was told by the participants that organizing of such Darbar’s would certainly help in bridging distances between Police & Public.
