Public Information Statement My Houston Weather.Net Monday September 9, 2013 0453 Skywarn is a National Weather Service Program that trains volunteers as spotters to look for Severe Weather and report it to the National Weather Service local Weather Service Forcast Office. This is not the same thing as Storm Chasing which requires far more training. Before one can become a Skywarn Spotter there is training that must be taken first. The National Weather Service offers at no charge a Basic and an Advanced course which is taught by the local office. Our area is covered by the Houston Galveston Forecast Office. The Warning Coordination Meterologist for our area is Mr. Dan Reilly who is a great teacher. I consider Dan a good friend and have been in his class several times and enjoyed it each time I took the class. I have included below the classes left for 2013. Why not take advantage of this free service of the National Weather Service class and I promise that it will be well worth the time you invest. For additional information you may contact Dan at the National Weather Service Houston Galveston Office at 281-534-2157 x223. When you call tell Dan that you heard about this program from My Houston Weather.Net. More information is also at the National Weather Service Houston Galveston Office website.
