Public Weather Forecast Issued at: 5:00 PM 09 October 2014 SYNOPSIS: At 4:00 PM today, the eye of typhoon Ompong was located based on all available data at 866 km east of Calayan, Cagayan or 825 east of Itbayat, Batanes (20.0N, 129.7E) with maximum winds of 205 kph and gustiness of up to 240 kph. It is forecast to move north at 9 kph. Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Visayas and Mindanao. FORECAST: Visayas, Zamboanga peninsula and the provinces of Cotabato and Palawan will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Cagayan valley will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over northern and central Luzon and coming from the southwest over the rest of the country. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough.
