Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi says his Department has started a process to trace all government property and land that belonged to South Africa and the homelands before 1994. He says after a number of scandals and an in-depth audit, it was discovered that some properties that used to belong to the government and homelands are no longer on the books. He made the remarks at a briefing on the International Union of Architects Congress due to be held in Durban from next Monday. About four-thousand delegates in the architecture field from across the world are expected to gather in the city. Nxesi says the critical issues that need urgent and creative solutions include the widespread need for housing, infrastructure, basic services, employment and social development.
