Public input at the July 28th School Board meeting featured - TopicsExpress

Public input at the July 28th School Board meeting featured parents and doctors declaring their support of recess as a means to improve academic performance. As a parent, teacher at a high-performing school, and School Board candidate, I support recess and I see lots of benefits. It’s not just about the exercise. Especially with the rigor of our curriculum, students need the mental break. It keeps them sharp. They need the chance to develop their social skills through unstructured, but not unsupervised, interactions with their classmates. I believe the School Board needs to address the policy elements that make it hard for teachers to integrate recess into the school day. https://youtube/watch?v=QUYCwelxnSU
