Published on Oct 17, 2013 Paul Gunter, Beyond Nuclear, joins Thom Hartmann. There are new concerns coming out of Japan - as the stricken Number 4 reactor at the Daichii nuclear power plant is on the verge of collapsing. How is TEPCO responding to this newest threat - and can they stop a complete nuclear disaster? The Open Pond on top of reactor 4 had both fresh fuel and spent but still highly radioactive spent rods...they were in the middle of a change out when the original earthquake and tsunami hit 3/11 and the building is listing, and in danger of collapse. They have not yet been able to stabalize it enough to move any of the rods and this is what they are pumping seawater through to cool.. This irradiated water has been pushed out into the pacific since day one...and the US Nuclear Agencies knew it and gave permissions as a stop gap measures... these and all other documents can be found at fukuleaks.org/web/
