Pulwama :Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and the party’s candidate for Rajpora assembly constituency, Dr Haseeb Drabu Sunday urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to streamline the ongoing voter registration process in the State so that more youth can get enrolled. Continuing his mass contact programme in Rajpora constituency on Sunday, Dr Drabu said the people are complaining of certain lacunas in the voter registration process including non- availability of Booth Level Officers (BLO) at most of the places during on-the-spot voter registration camps. “I hope that taking cognizance of the public concerns in this regard, the ECI and the State Election Department would ensure better coordination and availability of BLOs during the next phase of on-the-spot voter registration camps to be organized on 9 August 2014,” he said and added it was heartening to note that the educated youth have started showing lot of enthusiasm in getting enrolled as voters to play a more participatory role in the democratic processes. Dr Drabu said PDP is evolving a workable plan to ensure proper development of human resource and harness the immense potential of J&K’s youth for their own growth and that of the State. “Kashmir’s young population has suffered immensely due to the conflict and our youth need to connect with the larger world outside to grab the opportunities available to their counterparts elsewhere,” he said and exhorted the youth to play participatory democratic role in changing present corrupt system in the State. He promised that PDP, in its manifesto, would accord utmost importance to the problems of educated unemployed youth so that they can prosper and relish the fruits of peace, stability and economic liberalization. Dr Drabu was accompanied by PDP Youth Wing President Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra and other party leaders.
