Pupils in the Junior Orchestra enjoyed a brilliant afternoon’s training at the SATIPS (Support and Training in Prep Schools) event hosted by Bryanston School on Thursday last week. Mrs Oosthuizen and Mrs Covell joined parents from various prep schools to watch the concert that was a culmination of an afternoon’s orchestral training and they were proud of our pupils who gave a very pleasing performance. During the afternoon, the children were separated out for sectional rehearsals with Bryanston staff. This helped them to receive focussed teaching on their instrument. They then gathered to rehearse their own ensemble pieces. Yarrells pupils, performed Edelweiss with great confidence and obvious enjoyment. The afternoon culminated in a superb performance given by the massed prep schools when 130 children played El Condor Pasa, English Country Garden and Mamma Mia. It was a great experience for our budding orchestral musicians and the children had a wonderful time.
