Purple Portrait ~ The Purple Sandpipers were incredibly - TopicsExpress

Purple Portrait ~ The Purple Sandpipers were incredibly cooperative during my visit to Barnegat Light State Park in southern NJ. It was a very cold and very windy day with only one other person on the jetty all morning. The flock of Purple Sandpipers and Ruddy Turnstones were hanging out on the ocean side of the jetty which was sheltered from the north-west wind and by this point in the day was pretty calm. This allowed me to climb down on the rocks really close to the water. My only thought is that the birds arent used to having people at this level and therefore werent bothered by my presence in the least. This photo has only the slightest crop and at one point I was only about 5 feet from some of the birds. It was really neat to watch them feeding and feel like I was immersed into the flock. ~ 3/24/14 ~ 420 mm - ¹⁄₆₄₀ sec at f/6.3 - ISO400 ~ Please view large and feel free to share.
