Put up Christmas decorations yesterday. Miss Carla wanted to put lights in a tree in the front yard so she went up the tree and begin stringing lights. My job was to hold the ladder and hand her the lights. When she was finished she climbed down, stepped back and observed her work. She then said Damnit Marvin. Seems the lights werent spaced properly and I was culpable. She went back up the tree and told me to go to the front of the three. I thought about that for awhile and realized that I didnt know trees had fronts and backs. They are just trees with a cylinder like trunk, limbs and leaves. Evidently I was taking too long so she said Damnit Marvin, I told you to go to the front of the tree. Trying to use logic my premise was that the front of the tree would face the same direction as the front of the house so I moved to that side of the tree. I was wrong. This whole episode has caused me to question my pending retirement. Im sure the Lord as issue Carla an allotment of Damnit Marivns and if I retire Ill be around the house all day. Miss Carla could find herself using up her finite allotment before I die and then what would she say?
