Putin, Ukraine, and the usual distorted western echo chamber Let’s be clear: Putin said Russia will “go along” with the May Ukraine vote if its representative countrywide. Under current circumstances that is all but impossible. The Kiev regime continues to kill its own people it claims to totally represent. This cynical illusion is in Russia’s favor and for the people suffering in S-E Ukraine. Second, Putin is again making it clear the current policy of the illegitimate government in Kiev is unacceptable. Russia, rightfully, has a legitimate interest in the people in Ukraine seeking Russia’s protection and help. Third, the Ukrainian Civil War probably has already started. But how far it goes and for how long is essentially up to the west. Again, Putin is asking for cooler heads to prevail and more diplomacy. The next few days are of upmost importance. Engendering criticism from ALL sides (including at home), Putin is asking for a time out. Who will listen? Russia has re-calibrated and focused - will the west do the same?
